Resources, planning and a flipchart based on the book The Tiger Who Came to Tea. Originally used in Autumn 1 for a REC class. Introducing the story, looking at the front cover in detail. Moving on to the initial sounds S, M, D and T. Two tasks included; Task One - Sound and letter matching – Can you match the initial sounds of each character (S, M, D, T) to the right letter? Can any types of food also be matched to the initial sounds of the character? Task Two - Pictures of the characters are shown and children to label them. This may just be the initial sound (S, M, D, T), for the HA, push to sound it out and see which letters they do know how to form – get the sound mats out. Other ideas for writing, creative, reading, role-play and malleable areas too.
